Traveling Workshops

Location is Everything:
Offering Focused, On-Site Professional Development

As professional educators, you and your colleagues are deeply committed to your students’ success. You’re eager to learn about new methodologies and current trends in higher education that can enhance your effectiveness as a teacher or administrator. You can attend professional conferences, but major conferences usually don’t provide the interactive, in-depth experience that gives you concrete strategies and tools to use on your campus . . . and it’s unlikely that your institution can afford to send more than a few faculty or staff. If only you could attend a session on your own campus, on a topic of your choosing, tailored to your specific needs . . .  With The Collaboration’s Traveling Workshops, you can!

The Traveling Workshop Program makes it easy for you to bring talented presenters with expertise on a wide variety of topics to your site for as little as a half-day to as long as a week or more. You can select one workshop or a Workshop Sampler Series, combine several workshops of your own choosing to meet a particular need, or request a new workshop on a different topic to be designed just for you. By popular demand, we can also provide keynote speakers on topics ranging from inclusive teaching or humor in the classroom to technology and student life or developing a positive departmental climate.

The Collaboration’s Traveling Workshop Program offers a convenient, effective, and affordable way to provide knowledge- and skill-building faculty and staff development on your own campus. Our experienced facilitators present lively and engaging sessions on topics such as active learning, assessment, critical thinking, diversity, and much more.

Use the information on our website to read about our 2008–09 workshops, Workshop Sampler Series, facilitators, previous clients, and fees. Then, contact us by phone, email, or our online inquiry form to tell us about your needs and interests. Our staff will talk with you about your particular needs, help you select a suitable workshop or Workshop Sampler Series or work with you to develop a package of customized services, identify a date that works for you and the facilitators, and think through on-site arrangements to make your program a success. Facilitators will then work directly with you to tailor their services to your participants’ needs and program goals. Finally, The Collaboration will prepare, analyze, and summarize participant evaluations to assess satisfaction and results. Additional information, including presenters’ résumés, workshop syllabi, and sample materials, is also available by contacting The Collaboration.

In addition to the many workshops and workshop formats listed here, The Collaboration’s Traveling Workshop Program offers customized services to help meet your unique needs, interests, and goals. We have experience working with dozens of satisfied colleges and universities to develop and provide specially-designed services such as:

  • Keynote address + workshop packages
  • Consulting services + workshop packages to support campus initiatives or improve departmental climate
  • Multi-day conferences and year-long or multi-year faculty development initiatives
  • Workshops on special topics
  • Train-the-trainer programs

Whatever the format, whatever the topic, you can count on The Collaboration to provide a comprehensive and meaningful experience for your institution. And because our Traveling Workshop Program is so cost-effective, you’ll be confident in making great use of your limited budget.

“The Collaboration listens to you and takes your unique experience into account rather than applying a one-size-fits-all solution.”
